The Challenge The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority is responsible for supplying water to 400,000 residents in New Haven, Connecticut and surrounding communities and ensuring security at reservoirs, treatment plants, and other facilities. A Digital Video Recording solution implemented in early 2002 was deemed to be unreliable due to frequent crashes, resulting in a vendor search for a new system.
The Solution Ten to 12 DVRs were evaluated over a two month period before a decision was made in favor of a March Networks solution. Authority staff was impressed with the stability of the Linux operating system and the ability to manage the bandwidth allocated to the system. The March Networks DVRs were easy to install and have operated flawlessly.
