The Challenge When security managers at Singapore’s Changi International Airport decided to replace an aging analog CCTV system at its 358,000-square meter Terminal 2 with a digital video surveillance system, they insisted on a thorough evaluation of the options available to them. Video quality, system scalability and video analytics were high on their priority list.
The Solution After a thorough equipment demonstration and system performance evaluation, Changi security managers selected a system from Cieffe, the Milan-based video surveillance supplier acquired by March Networks. The system consists of hundreds of analog cameras linked to a terminal-wide fiber network by single channel encoders. Video is recorded by Cieffe Spectiva recorders, stored on RAID units and displayed on 50 monitors in a security operations center.
